CL draw: Resurgent Leicester worry Zidane

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has followed Gianluigi Buffon’s lead in admitting that he hopes to avoid Leicester in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Champions League draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday.
The reigning Premier champions reached the last eight after a stunning 2-0 win over Sevilla at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

Following that performance, Juventus goalkeeper Buffon said, “I would like to avoid Leicester City. They’re a dangerous side, there’s a feel-good factor around the place and they have the ability to hurt you if you take the game to them,” teamtalk.com quoted Buffon as saying.

Zidane has reiterated Buffon’s fears about taking on the Foxes, despite Real holding the record of 11 European Cup wins.
“I don’t think there will be a single coach who are hoping they face Leicester.
“They keep achieving what they are told they can’t achieve.
“Many thought they wouldn’t hold on to their lead at the top of the Premier League – and they did.
“Many thought they could not turnaround the defeat against Sevilla – and they did.
“Whatever club Leicester face, they (Leicester) won’t be favourites. And with that pressure off them and on the other team, anything can happen.
“We have seen they have some very talented players but they also play with a lot of passion and heart. That is never easy to face.
“In the last eight, you are going to be in for two tough games. It’s the stage of the competition where everybody starts to believe and to dream they can win it.”

Meanwhile, Zidane has revealed that during his playing career, he never harboured any ambitions of becoming a coach upon his retirement.
After hanging up his boots in 2006, the Frenchman took a break from the game for several years before taking over Real Madrid’s Castilla side and assisting Carlo Ancelotti in 2014.
After two years in charge there, he was handed the top job at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu following the sacking of Rafa Benitez and last season led Real to a Champions League title in his debut campaign.
“When I was a player I always said that I would never become a coach,” Zidane admitted in an interview with FIFA. “After my retirement I dedicated myself to other things.
“I soon realised though that I wanted to be involved on the pitch again and so I prepared to become a coach and now I’m really enjoying it.”
